Carve the marble
A three-hour masterclass in a working Pyrgos workshop. Leave with your own carved fragment and permanently changed hands.
Experiences
Pyrgos · Tinos · Cyclades
A 24-suite hotel carved into an 1863 marble quarry, forty metres above the Aegean. The island’s stone remembers everything — tonight it holds you.
The quarry reborn
For a century, the Latomies quarry gave Tinos its white gold — marble for temples, palaces and the workshops of Pyrgos, the village of sculptors. The saws fell silent in 1974. Fifty years later, the terraces, galleries and cutting halls have been reborn as a hotel: nothing added that the mountain did not offer, nothing hidden that the quarrymen made.

The stone
Every wall in LATOMIES was cut by quarrymen who never knew they were building a hotel. Architects from Athens and marble masters from Pyrgos worked for four years — cleaning, never carving anew — so that each suite keeps the tool marks, the veins and the scars of the mountain.
We did not build on the quarry. We were guests of it — and we left the marble the last word.
Taste
Tinian artichokes, louza, fish from Panormos boats and vegetables from our terraced gardens, served where blocks of marble were once split. At night, the 1863 wine bar pours volcanic Cyclades wines under the crane rails.

Restore
Forty metres inside the gallery, the temperature never changes. Marble hammam, spring-water cold plunge, sound baths that use the quarry’s own echo.
